Liquidation
Liquidation Consulting
Know what you have before you sell.
Selling jewelry is one of the highest-asymmetry transactions a non-specialist can be in. We level the field — telling you what your pieces are worth, what fair offers look like in different sales channels, and where the traps are.
Typically 1–3 hours for valuation; consultation happens in the same appointment.
Who it's for
Sellers liquidating an inherited collection.
Anyone offered a cash-buyer quote and wanting to verify it's fair.
Owners deciding between auction, private sale, consignment, and dealer trade.
Estate executors balancing speed of sale against maximum value.
Anyone selling significant pieces who has never sold jewelry before.
What we deliver
Pre-sale valuation and channel guidance
Independent grading and valuation of every piece you intend to sell.
Interactive spreadsheet listing high-cash values by item, useful at the negotiating table.
Channel guidance: which pieces fit auction, which fit dealer sale, which are better sold privately.
Honest assessment of pieces that aren't worth selling formally — sometimes the answer is to keep them.
Guidance on timing — markets shift, and the best time to sell isn't always today.
Negotiating with confidence
Most cash buyers offer 30–50% of true wholesale. Auction houses take 15–25% in fees. Private sale takes time. Knowing the values, the channels, and the trade-offs is what separates a fair sale from a regretted one. We don't take commissions, so the values stay honest — and when it helps, we'll introduce you to buyers we trust and stay involved to keep their offers transparent against your numbers.
Methodology
Liquidation consulting is closer to financial advisory than to traditional appraisal. We grade and value the pieces, but the deliverable is decision support — what each piece is worth in each plausible sales channel, accounting for fees, time, and risk. We don't buy jewelry and we don't take commissions or referral fees — that's what keeps our values honest. From decades of estate work we know buyers we trust, and when it helps we'll make introductions and stay involved through the negotiation, holding offers up against your spreadsheet of high-cash values so you can be confident the price is fair. If you're unsure between two paths, we'll explain the trade-offs and let you choose with full information.
Common questions
Do you buy jewelry?
No. We don't buy jewelry. This is core to why our values are trustworthy — we have no incentive to deflate them.
Can you recommend a specific buyer?
Yes. We've come to know buyers we trust over years, and we'll introduce you when it helps. We stay involved through the negotiation to keep the process transparent and the offers measured against your numbers.
Is selling at auction always best?
No. Auction is great for unusual, signed, or significant pieces with broad appeal. For more routine items, private sale or dealer transactions can net more after fees and time.
